در طول دو دهه گذشته، دیدگاههای مختلفی از منظر پژوهشگران مختلف در زمینه مدیریت زنجیره تأمین مورد بررسی قرار گرفته است که یکی از مباحث مهم در این زمینه، مفهوم یکپارچگی زنجیره تأمین است. در واقع، یکپارچگی زنجیره تأمین فرصتهای عمدهای برای شرکت فراهم میسازد تا سطح عملکرد و موقعیت بازار خود را ارتقا دهد. امروزه، زنجیره تأمین به عنوان یک اصل مهم مورد توجه مدیران شرکتها قرار گرفته است و مدیران علاوه بر تمرکز بر فعالیتهای داخلی شرکت خود، در پی برقراری روابط بلندمدت و مبتنی بر تعهد و اعتماد با تأمینکنندگان و مشتریان خود هستند. این پژوهش درصدد است تا مبحث یکپارچگی زنجیره تأمین و چگونگی اثرگذاری آن بر عملکرد شرکت را مورد بررسی قرار دهد. انجام این مورد از طریق شناسایی روابط سه جانبه میان سطح یکپارچگی زنجیره تأمین، بهرهگیری از عملیات مدیریت زنجیره تأمین و عملکرد شرکت حاصل میشود. بدین ترتیب، راهبرد یکپارچگی زنجیره تأمین میتواند با راهبرد رقابتی شرکت همسو شود و بنابراین، مجموعهای از راهبردهای مفید فراهم شود. با توجه با نتایج حاصل از تجزیهوتحلیل دادهها از طریق نرمافزار لیزرل در بررسی شرکتهای تولیدی مواد غذایی در ایران، میتوان عنوان نمود که یکپارچگی زنجیره تأمین دارای اثر مستقیم بر عملکرد شرکت نیست، بلکه این اثرگذاری به طور غیرمستقیم، از طریق متغیر میانجی عملیات مدیریت زنجیره تأمین، صورت میپذیرد؛ به عبارت دیگر، یکپارچگی زنجیره تأمین، در ابتدا، عملیات مدیریت زنجیره تأمین –شامل عملیات تدارکات، تولید و توزیع- را بهبود میدهد و از طریق این عوامل، عملکرد شرکت را ارتقا میبخشد.
