Interdisciplinary research in management holds significant potential for generating innovative insights and advancing management theories by integrating knowledge and methods from various disciplines. This article explores the challenges and opportunities of interdisciplinary research, emphasizing its role in addressing complex societal issues. Interdisciplinary research contributes to the development of new theories and the resolution of multifaceted problems through theoretical innovation, methodological advancements, and problem-oriented research. However, challenges such as the lack of clear motivation for utilizing theories from other disciplines, the absence of a common interdisciplinary language, insufficient theorizing, and practical constraints like time and space limitations pose obstacles to this type of research. To overcome these challenges, recommendations include clearly articulating research motivation, bridging linguistic gaps through precise concept explanations, demonstrating theoretical depth via synthesis and synergy, and maintaining theoretical fidelity by accurately utilizing resources from other disciplines. The article underscores the role of interdisciplinary research in enriching management theory and highlights the need for a supportive academic environment aware of interdisciplinary methods and theories to achieve transformative contributions in management.
