Abstract There has been little explicit theoretical and empirical research on the concept of control mechanisms as a package despite the existence of the idea in control literature for decades. There are three issues in the literature about developing control package framework. The initial purpose of this paper is to clarify a number of other issues that not considered in past researches. Then three control package frameworks which introduced in past researches have been criticized based on issues identified and By Critical analysis of fundamental Assumptions of these frameworks. We provide a new typology for control package structured around three control mechanisms and six extra dimensions which identified in literature in a more holistic manner. Finally we provide suggestions on how control research could proceed to produce better configurational theories in this regard.t
