Abstract

The present study was conducted to develop an agentic leadership model for sustainable transformation in international businesses. The nature of the present study is a qualitative approach and in an inductive paradigm, which is descriptive-survey and fundamental in terms of purpose. The statistical population of the study consists of 15 experts (university professors and international business managers) who were selected based on the principle of theoretical adequacy and the purposive sampling method. The data collection tool was a semi-structured interview with a content analysis approach. It is worth noting that the data were analyzed using the coding process and software (MAXQDA). Also, to ensure the validity and reliability of qualitative data, Lincoln and Guba’s (1985) four-criterion framework was used, which includes trustworthiness, transferability, verifiability, and honesty. On the other hand, several steps were taken to enhance trustworthiness: First, after the initial data analysis, the results were reviewed and confirmed with the participants to assess the accuracy and correctness of the researcher’s perceptions. Also, at different intervals, the data and the coding process were independently reviewed and revised by the collaborating researchers to eliminate possible errors and individual biases. The results indicate that by analyzing the data, causal factors , contextual factors, intervening factors , strategies and consequences of agentic leadership in international businesses were identified and finally a research model was developed.
